Update on EIS Council’s 2010 Program The EIS Council was founded as a key element of an international government / NGO partnership addressing protection of critical electric infrastructures from electromagnetic threats, including severe solar flares and EMP. In 2010 the EIS Council is working with members of the U.K. Parliament and the U.S. Congress to co-host the first Electric Infrastructure Security Summit (EISS) in London, chaired by Rt. Hon. James Arbuthnot, Chairman of the Defence Select Committee, with Congressman Trent Franks as honorary co-chair. The invitation-only event will feature U.K. Secretary of State for Defence Dr. Liam Fox as keynote speaker. Attendees will be energy ministers and administrators, chairmen and ranking members of parliamentary defence committees and interested government leaders and advisors from more than twenty nations. The Henry Jackson Society is also co-hosting the event. This detailed report summarizes the plans for EISS-London and a range of educational efforts taking place this year. |
